Feeding therapy helps children with autism who experience picky eating, food selectivity, or sensory-related feeding challenges. Our program focuses on helping children become more comfortable trying new foods and building healthy mealtime routines. Our approach is gradual, positive, and tailored to each child.
Signs include limited food preferences, resistance to trying new foods, sensory-related food aversions (avoiding certain textures, temperatures, or smells), or mealtime anxiety and distress. If mealtimes are a consistent challenge for your family, our team is happy to talk through whether feeding therapy may help.
Yes. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Utah Medicaid. Our team handles insurance verification for you at no cost before your child's first visit — call (385) 417-3869 to check your coverage.
We use evidence-based, child-centered approaches that make mealtimes positive. This includes gradual food exposure, sensory-based strategies, oral motor exercises, and behavioral techniques. We never force children to eat and always work at each child's pace.
Feeding challenges in autism often stem from sensory sensitivities (textures, smells, temperatures), oral motor difficulties, rigid routines and preferences, or anxiety around new foods. Our program focuses on these preference- and sensory-related challenges. Children whose feeding difficulties are related to medical conditions or swallowing disorders may need specialized medical care, and we are happy to help guide families to appropriate resources.
