Occupational Therapy FAQs

Occupational therapy (OT) helps children develop the skills needed for daily activities, or "occupations." For children, this includes playing, learning, self-care tasks like dressing and eating, and interacting with others. OT addresses fine motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, and independence.

Occupational therapy at our center is available as a supportive service for children who are enrolled in our ABA program. Our program primarily serves children ages 2–12, with exceptions considered depending on individual needs. Signs your child may benefit from OT include difficulty with fine motor tasks, sensory sensitivities, or challenges with self-care and daily routines. Our team can talk through whether OT may be a good fit for your child.

Sessions are play-based and engaging. Your child will participate in activities designed to build specific skills, such as sensory play, fine motor exercises, obstacle courses, and daily living practice. Our OTs make therapy fun while targeting therapeutic goals.

The duration varies based on your child's individual needs and goals. Some children achieve their goals in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. Our OTs regularly assess progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
